Human Rights Education Center Remodel & Expansion

The proposed Human Rights Education Center will be to provide facilities and staff to support a variety of educational formats that promote human rights as an essential element of a just and successful democracy.   The programs of the Center will provide education, assistance, and facilities to communities and leaders in the Inland Northwest and around the world seeking help to build better democracies, remove human rights threats, resolve conflicts, and reach common goals.

The building design incorporates part of the historical battery building while adding a new attractive entryway to the City of Coeur d'Alene City Park that conveys to visitors and residents that our community is committed to a future that celebrates human rights for everybody.   The design renderings show a transparency of doors and windows, designed to bring the view of the lake and park into the building as well as to allow for a flow of people in and out of receptions and community events.

The Human Rights Education Center will feature dramatic and informative traveling exhibits appealing to student school tours, tourists, and area residents.
