Global Night Commute

For two decades the people of Northern Uganda have been caught in the crossfire between the Ugandan government and the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), led by self-proclaimed mystic, Joseph Kony.   Close to 1.6 million people have been displaced and now live in camps with limited security and basic provisions, and 20,000 children have been abducted by the LRA to be used as soldiers and sex slaves.   Jan England, the UN Special Advisor to the Secretary General on Human Affairs describes the situation in Northern Uganda as "the world's most neglected humanitarian crisis."

In partnership with Invisible Children, area youth walk and lie down for one night to raise awareness about the child victims of the longest running war in Africa.

The walk also raises funds for Invisible Children Inc., an international, non-profit organization that provides food, health, education, rehabilitation, and other services to the people affected by this conflict.
