Human Rights Banquet

HREI co-hosts an annual Human Rights Banquet with the Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations.   The banquet is attended by hundreds of human rights supporters. The Banquet focuses its attention on the real progress of tolerance within the United States, emphasizing economic and social development, human rights and a healthy environment as key elements in assuring all people live with dignity and security. The theme also ties into the UN Millennium Development Goals of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, empowering women, and ensuring environmental sustainability.

Educational scholarships are given to North Idaho College students. Other highlights include a theme based key note speaker, and the presentation of the Bill Wassmuth Human Rights Award.
